A directory where no one could add a business, rebuilt without losing SEO on any of 608 addresses

The problem

Firmayap ranked on the first page for free business listing searches, yet the site had no visible place to add a business; the form sent visitors to a login page. The site had more than 550 blog posts, and the condition was that no post, address or search setting could be lost.

What we did

We built a hand-coded WordPress theme and our own directory plugin; businesses are added through a three-step form that needs no login.
We measured and compared every address before and after the theme change: titles, descriptions, canonicals and structured data stayed the same.
We moved the existing businesses with their addresses intact and added real businesses for each sector, taken from their own websites; the admin panel gained approvals, 365-day membership tracking and ad slots.
For speed on phones we resized the photos, self-hosted the fonts and turned on page caching for mobile visitors too.
