Salon Booking Systems: How Online Booking Works and Which One Fits
Published:
How does online booking work?
The customer picks a service on their phone, sees the free times and takes one. Once a time is taken it closes for everyone else, and the booking lands on the salon's list. If staff can be chosen, each person gets their own calendar.
The real gain is time: customers can book at night, and you do not have to leave the customer in your chair to answer the phone.
Three routes: WhatsApp, ready-made software, your own site
WhatsApp booking is the easiest start: the customer writes and you reply. There is nothing to set up, but you still keep the calendar yourself.
Ready-made booking software or an app is quick to set up and keeps the calendar for you. It usually has a monthly fee, and the look and rules go only as far as the software allows.
Online booking on your own site is designed around how you work, and customers stay on your address. It takes more work to set up.
Which salon suits which?
For a single chair or a salon with few bookings, WhatsApp is often enough. Once times start to clash and more than one person works there, a calendar system pays off.
If your customers already use an app, or you want to start quickly, ready-made software makes sense. If your salon has its own site, a built-in system fits better, because a customer arriving from Google books without being sent elsewhere.
What to check when choosing
Try it on a phone first: can a customer book in three or four taps? Then look at staff and service duration settings, cancelling and rescheduling, and reminder messages.
Read the limits of free plans. Find out whether you can export your customer list, because one day you may want to move to another system. Customer names and phone numbers are personal data, so the site also needs the right privacy notices.
For your salon
If you want a site that includes booking, our hair salon website page shows what is included. A presentation site starts at $200, and a booking system changes the price. Our salon website guide covers what else the site needs.
